We reached a place I've been looking forward to for a long time, fiberglassing the outside of the boat. The glassing (thanks, Don), turned out as well as I could hope. Don and I went over the boat many times to get rid of bubbles and creases and think we did a pretty good job. We laid the fiberglass over the boat, cut it to shape, and we were still a few feet short, as predicted. We overlaid a piece at the aft end to cover the missing area.
I thought I'd gotten all of the stain off before we started on Saturday - I hadn't. More scaping. I joke, the wood was 5/64 inch thick, but after all of our scaping (very little sanding and only with a 100 grit paper), were we just done with that.
The fiberglass is really clear and shows the patina of the boat.
The phone on the ground shows how valuable newspapers are. You can read the news on the phone, but it just doesn't cover everything. :-)
