The teacher works with others to create environments that support individual and collaborative learning, and that encourage positive social interaction, active engagement in learning, and self motivation.
This is something I see a lot of during my student teaching. My team meets most prep periods to discuss student concerns and RTI. This is in addition to staff meetings and department meetings where administration is always looking for more ways to provide us with resources to help our students. During department meetings, teachers often share which lessons worked best in their classrooms and staff meetings, the teachers provide strategies for classroom management or behavior management. MY CT has a reward system in place that provides students with a potluck at the end of the quarter for following the classroom procedures. My CT also sends weekly emails to parents to keep them in the loop with what is being learned and what is for homework. Additionally, my CT also calls home to give positive reinforcement to students when they are doing well in class.
The first artifact for this standard is an example of notecards provided to this student teacher during lessons. These notecards were filled out by my CT in order for me to see how my lesson is timed and paced to "promote learner engagement and minimize loss of instructional time".
The second artifact I will use to demonstrate satisfying this standard is a lesson using Nearpod for instruction. This was something I created to do stations in the classroom. The students were learning about definition strategies, such as, negation. This is an interactive powerpoint that the teacher (myself) controlled, while the other stations were student driven slides.
