My Three-Fold Ministry

As Chaplain, I lead church services, teach Bible studies and discipleship, provide pastoral care and counseling, coordinate special outreach events, and provide continuity of care following a youth’s release into the community or transfer to a facility outside of the OCJJC.

As Volunteer Coordinator, I serve the PCM’s amazing team of volunteers guiding them through an extensive clearance and training process, and providing ongoing support in their ministry assignments.

As Project Specialist for Pacific Youth, I work on projects covering such areas as strategic planning and implementation, policies and procedures, training and development, resource materials, and ministry processes and systems.

My Call Into Full-Time Ministry

This is not a ministry I would have chosen for myself. It is a ministry I have been called to by God. Looking back in my journal, written in September 1994, were these words: “Lord, I seek Your wisdom and guidance, Your will... I’m tired of being afraid of kids on the street. This world has turned upside-down. And as hard as these kids are on the outside, they’re still just kids. And under that hard exterior there is a heart that can be reached by You. So Lord, may I be a willing and able servant. May I seek Your will in all things.”

The following morning, the Lord gave me Isaiah 58:12 (NKJV), “Those from among you shall build the old waste places; you shall raise up the foundations of many generations; and you shall be called the Repairer of the Breach, the Restorer of Streets to Dwell In.” From that moment on the Lord has given me His Love, His Compassion, and His Hope for these kids.

I entered the ministry in 1995 as a volunteer and joined the staff of Pacific Youth as a full-time missionary in May 1999. I am excited and blessed to be a part of this ministry.
