2013 Spring Girls Event at Youth Guidance Center
GIRL POWER! I CAN DO ALL THINGS THROUGH CHRIST WHO STRENGTHENS ME!
I love my team of ladies who pour so much grace and love into our girls. We decorated the walls with brightly colored butterflies, tulips, and tissue paper flowers. All of the table leaders brought "pink" decorations in line with our theme color and beautiful mixed bouquets of flowers. We opened with a wonderful time of worship after which Amanda shared her life story.
To quote volunteer Peggy, "I know the girls, and us ladies as well, were deeply touched and blessed by Amanda's testimony. I don't think I have ever heard anyone communicate the love of God and the power of God so beautifully. What a wonderful testimony to the transforming power of God's love. What a powerful reminder that it's in our weakness where we realize our total dependence upon Jesus, and in our brokenness where we are made whole. God, by His Spirit, drew each precious girl there to hear His message of redemption, to hear His message of hope. I pray that Amanda lets no one despise her youth, that she continues to stir up the gift of God which is in her, boldly proclaiming the Gospel, the Good News of Jesus Christ, and what He can do with a life surrendered to His love."
The remainder of the evening went by too quickly as the girls were so open and the conversation flowed freely. I don't think I've seen a girls’ event where the girls were more engaged with the women at their tables. The bracelets the girls made were beautiful and unique. My prayer is this night will live on in the memories of our girls... that be it now or later (God knows), each girl will come to know as Amanda shared that our God can deliver us, set us free, and strengthen us every day of our lives in Christ Jesus!
