Dry Skid
This is a very easy Project and a great one to get your feet wet or keep your stuff dry!!!
Under the aft dinette seat there is a Dry Skid...or in my case a dry-rotted skid. It looks like a small pallet. As there is often a little water in the bilge the Dry Skid keeps stored items raised up out of the water.
As I mentioned, mine had rotted, so using the old parts as templates I fashioned a new Dry Skid out of scraps of oak flooring. Then, rather than varnish and then have to keep constant vigil on it, I opted to Epoxy over the entire Dry Skid. It is now maintenance free and keeping my tool bag among other things out of the bilge water.
