"Teaching someone how to play the piano is part of what it means to be a musician; to analyse and talk about music with a student; to discuss technique with  them; to play to them; to hear them play; this is what it means to live with music."

Caroline Tyler is an award-winning concert pianist and first-class honours graduate of The Guildhall School Of Music And Drama, where she studied with the internationally renowned piano teacher Professor Joan Havill.

Caroline has performed in concert halls all over the UK and Europe, including London's Barbican Concert Hall and Prague's Martinu Concert Hall. She is also the first prizewinner of various national and international piano competitions.

She discovered her passion for teaching during her studies, when she experienced the teaching element of the course at the Guildhall. In order to be assessed, she was observed teaching one-to-one piano by piano professors at the Guildhall, who subsequently awarded her the highest mark in the year of 90 per cent.

Shortly after this, Caroline set up her own private piano school as a joint strand to her performing career, and has enjoyed seeing the abilities of her students grow as they are inspired by music and enjoy the piano. Caroline has also had success with her students in examining and competitive areas. Various students have won music festival competitions, music scholarships to private school, achieved many unusually high marks for exam performances, and gone on to study music in higher education and/or entered the profession.

Caroline is also on the piano adjudication panel for the British & International Federation of Festivals and on the panel of examiners for ABRSM.
