Discourse: 也、还、都、又、再

If you have studied Mandarin for more than two years in a classroom setting, likely you have learned these adverbs "也,都,还", (similar to English "also', 'all" "yet"), but you may not have come across "又,再" (roughly "yet again"), which belong to the same group of "little" words that are nevertheless very important for building coherent, fluent discourse. They direct the hearer to focus on shared information and context, they express the speaker's stance and position toward the issue at hand and they create cohesion between previous and subsequent utterances.
