A Twin Bill - One Happy Night

Starts at 5:30pm

Alamo Theatre, 85 Main Street

We’re partnering up with our beloved community radio, WERU, to bring two of the most exciting & respected bands in Maine to The Alamo for a twin bill – Darlin’ Corey & The Pine Tree Flyers

Darlin’ Corey features the singing and playing of three well known musicians of the thriving music scene of Portland. Award winning and accomplished fiddler and singer Erica Brown on fiddle, guitar, vocals, notable songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Matt Shipman on guitar, vocals, mandolin, bouzouki, banjo and Portland’s favorite bass player, Kris Day. Their music is a unique blend of folk with influences from bluegrass and old time music. Together they create an engaging performance of thoughtful originals, traditional songs and songs that influenced them along the way.

The Pine Tree Flyers are four of the finest voices in New England's traditional music scene who shine a renewed light on the tunes of the Northeast with excitement and respect. From festival stages and concert halls to raucous August nights at fiddle camp, the Flyers are here to make sure New England music has a seat at the table as a distinct and vital American tradition. All residents of the great state of Maine, Katie McNally (fiddle), Emily Troll (accordion), Benjamin Foss (guitar), and Neil Pearlman (piano) cut their teeth playing for contra dances and learning from the greats. Individually, they've toured the world playing Irish, Scottish, and Quebecois music and they bring this wellspring of knowledge and technical prowess to the American music that was born from these traditions. These two bands might just sing a tune or two together at show’s end. It’s going to be quite an event.

Rachel draws her inspiration from Celtic, French, English, and Quebecois traditions, cranking out new material while deeply

respecting the melodies that have been around for hundreds of

years. Based in Brattleboro, VT, she is busy touring all over North America and abroad for concerts, contra dances, French BalFolk dances, English country dances, workshops, and festivals.
