History of Trials

This lesson develops an understanding of how our modern trial procedures have changed over time.

We will emphasize components of the historical trials which have been borrowed and adapted to our present system.

This is the handout we used to fill in the notes/details from class

History of Trials Assignment:

1. Evaluate the strengths and weaknesses of the various types of trials throughout history, give at least two examples of each. Be sure to identify which specific era you are referring to in your answer.
2. Through our discussion there were several elements that our modern system has borrowed/adapted from these old types of trials. Identify at least two of these.
3. Make a prediction of what might be the next logical step in the evolution of trials will be.
