Project Requirements:

Create an ad for a security system/product OR for a politician running for re-election.

The finished work should be turned in through work4pregon@gmail.com if you cannot print it in color.

Some students are using Google docs to create and share their work with a partner so they can collaborate even outside of school. At school, Microsoft Publisher has some premade templates that students have used in the past to make impressive projects. Also using sites like Animoto.com are possible to create professional looking videos for free.

The advertisement will be graded on three criterion:

Concept:

• Is the idea clever/interesting/persuasive/etc?
• Does your ad explain what the product/person is like? (what will it do)
• Explain how the crime data helps sell your idea (don’t just include raw numbers)
• Is it in good taste without violating the Code of Conduct?

Statistical strength:

• At least 4 real crime statistics must be used! (cannot make these up)
  • Security product should use stats that create a fear of crime… if you don’t buy the product, you might be the next victim!
  • Reelection ads should show how crime has gotten better since that person took office. Vote for them to keep crime under control!
• Every stat should have its source included on the ad so the reader can see that it is legitimate data.

Quality:

• This needs to be a color advertisement.
• Graphics must be used. (logos/drawings/photos/clipart/etc)
• Does the finished product look like a professional quality ad?
• Is the ad layout easy to read and organized? (avoid negative space)
• Word processed text is strongly suggested to enhance readability.

Where to get crime statistics?

Remember, all stats need to be official statistics from a recognized source!
