Friday Dec 10, 2010 several students were specifically identified by Mr. Pregon’s substitute teacher for a variety of classroom infractions including unproductive, disruptive, and disrespectful conduct. Clearly this does not show respect.
Due to repeated and unsuccessful interventions, more strict action needs to be taken to send the message that student behavior on days when a substitute is in the classroom needs to be just as respectful and productive as any other day in class!
The named students will have until Thurs Dec 16 @ 4:00pm to complete the following:
Serve 45 min worth of makeup class time with Mr. Pregon.
Submit a letter of apology meeting the following criteria:
Students not finishing both components by the deadline will have a parent conference scheduled with Principal Mullen where all of these concerns will be discussed in addition to any additional consequences that may arise from this situation.
This is copied from the syllabus posted on Mr. Pregon’s classroom website:
I have never really been much for a list of rules posted in classrooms. I will do my best to enforce our building discipline policies, but as far as classroom rules, I feel like less is more.
Respect yourself; Respect the teacher; Respect other students; Respect property.
I think trying to earn and give Respect pretty much covers what I hope to accomplish in my classroom. I hope we can build the trust necessary to take care of our business responsibly and have a good time along the way.
I only create additional rules if we need to have them. We only have them in my classes if students can’t demonstrate Respect.
Mr. Pregon
