Projects for 2019

The projects were proposed from Tisma as images of a letter sent by Messenger by Sheyla Aburto Tisma 14th March 2019.

The projects supported were reported on by Sheyla Aburto, again by messenger, in March 2020 as follows:

$200 on materials for PioPio nursery

$200 on school materials for La Perla community

$500 on one student grant

$300 on the second student grant

Total $1100

Notes:

- In total $1,100 was sent in September 2019, after difficulty in transferring cash. The Tisma project account in a Masaya bank had been closed following the Nicaragua disturbances in April 2019, and non-use of the project account in Masaya for 6 months. Little had been left in it, and the money was eventually transferred by Western Union.

- Desks for the Instituto secondary school, was not possible: MINED do not allow donations to the secondary school from NGOs during 2019 and so the plan to support desks for the secondary school did not go ahead. The Tisma committee thought of donating each chair to a child that would be their parents’ responsibility, but parents didnt feel comfortable with that because the school is in two shifts so the chair would also be used by someone they didn’t know.

- Student grants. The previous one to Joe Adair did not continue as he did not give the documents he was asked for to show he had passed the year’s academic assignments. Two others have been successful and photos of their ID and course passes were sent. One has now finished the degree course, the other is entering their third year. These grants were last-minutes changes to the projects because the school desks project could go ahead, but it has been acknowledged in Bradford and Tisma that such individual grants are not the best use of Bradford’s support which according to agreed criteria should benefit as many people as possible. The two students were Nidia’s youngest son Denis, and Sheyla’s son Yasir.
