PALMER, Clive. Australian mining billionaire: "Rupert Murdoch is a person who has sworn an oath of allegiance to a foreign country... why should he participate in a domestic debate on how Australians should vote?"

Clive Frederick Palmer (born 26 March 1954) is an Australian businessman, politician, political activist and owner of Mineralogy with iron ore, nickel and coal holdings. As of January 2012, his net worth was estimated at US$795 million (Wikipedia: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Clive_Palmer_%28businessman%29 ).

Clive Palmer on Rupert Murdoch’s influence on Australian politics (2013): “Well, first of all Rupert Murdoch is a person who has sworn an oath of allegiance to a foreign country. He sent out here another alien from a foreign country to sack the editor of The Courier-Mail, to dismiss 40 journalists in News Corporation and he said, “If you don't do what I tell you, if you don't write what I tell you as an American citizen, you will be dismissed.” That’s why he did it. And then Kevin Rudd thought this was so bad that he brought over Obama's media team to have a war with him and every day Rupert gave instructions on Skype on what Australians will think and what Australians will do. Forget about media and politics. Think about your country. This is Australia. We don't need foreigners to tell us how to think and live… Look, I don't really care about Rupert Murdoch. He doesn't live in Australia. He doesn't care about Australia. His citizenship is with another country. He has made his decision. But why should he participate in a domestic debate on how Australians should vote? That is all it boils down to really.”
