My Opinion: I just finished the authors most well known book, Snow Falling on Cedars. It is not a book I would have chosen for myself but was, in fact, a mystery and it kept my interest. It tells the story of the fishing community of San Piedro Island, north of Puget Sound. It covers the community's large Japanese American community and how thy were impacted by WWII. The Japanese lost homes and goods and were transferred to the internment camp Manzanar. After the war ended, these folks returned but were never looked on the same. He has written many other books, most of which seem to be about the Pacific Northwest.
