An introduction to the field of computing through exercises in product innovation. Students will recognize a problem in society and will work in teams to design a technological solution to this issue. Students will learn how an education within the computing majors will help them to develop the products they design. Additionally, students will develop a resume, and discuss career paths.

An introduction to the field of computing: trends in computing technology, the profession, and careers; sub-disciplines in computing; the nature of research and development.
CSCE 145, 204, 205, 206 or equivalent. Otherwise, granted permission by instructor.
As a result of successful participation in this course, graduate students will be able to:
Understand computing and its forms
Understand the stages of product innovation
Create problem descriptions
Develop product prototypes
Understand the difference between the computing majors
Create a resume
Understand potential computing careers
Students are expected to attend lectures and also go through class videos after the lecture. They are expected to participate in class and also summarize what they learnt in lectures.
Instructor and TAs will help in completing assignments. Note that the course grading will be attendance based.
Student will notify in-class presence through slack. Attendance will be taken by TAs on a Google Sheet editable by them and Instructor. Any discussion on attendance will be entertained only up to a week later of the relevant class.
