Book on Principles of radiometry

He wrote a book titled "Principles of radiometry in radioactive metal exploration" [ISBN 81-902339-0-4] with co-authors : T. Bhattacharya (died later in 2010), A.A.P.S.R Acharyulu, D. Sriniwas and M.K. Sandilya in the year 2004. The book was aimed for undergraduate students in earth sciences interested to undertake a course in crustal radioactivity.

The whole subject is divided into six chapters beginning with radioactivity that is required for understanding the exploration of radioactive metals. Second chapter deals with radiation detector having an emphasis only on the detectors useful in collecting terrestrial samples from anomalous radioactive horizons during surveys. Third chapter is about radiation survey meters in which these detectors are used suitably depending upon the context like airborne surveys, jeep borne surveys, soil surveys etc. In fourth chapter gamma ray spectrometry of rocks is discussed which is required for analysis of radioactive rock specimens collected during surveys. Once a prospective terrain is found, it is drilled further to look for subsurface continuity of mineralization. Natural gamma log of boreholes provide the essential information of ore grade and thickness of zones. Methods of logging are discussed in chapter 5 and finally the basics of instrumentation for the logging equipments are described in chapter 6.
