ANURANAN-Science Awareness, a non-profit Society, has been planned by the Scientists of Bhabha Centre, Kolkata with an objective to interact and inspire students in order to make them passionately curious about Science.

For the students of class IX-X, we have designed a three hour module containing two presentations: one on ‘Learning the principles of physics through simple and low cost experiments’ [Duration: 2 hours] and another on ‘Learning the principles of chemistry through simple and low cost experiments’ [Duration: 1 hour]. We want to ideally hold the event on Saturdays within school hour.

For students of class XI-XII, we have come up with a whole day program with three presentations before lunch: one on ‘Nature of light’ [Duration: 45 min], second on ‘Mysteries of universe and its laws’ [Duration: 45 min] and the third on ‘Patterns and symmetries observed in nature’ [Duration: 45 min]. Post lunch, there will be presentations on ‘Digital communication and career option’ [Duration: 45 min] to be followed by ‘Learning the principles of science through simple and low cost experiments’ [Duration: 90 min].

We have already conducted science programs at various schools and Colleges in different parts of Bengal including R.K.Mission school, Sargachhi, Murshidabad; Haripur Gadadhar Vidyapith, Namkhana; Saharda Kalipada Vidyapith, Paschim Medinipur; Baita Mahendranath High school, Kanthi [twice]; Chandanpiri Sri Ramkrishna Ashram, Namkhana; Don Bosco schools, Bandel and Liluah; Sri Ramkrishna Sikshalaya, Howrah; St. John’s High school, Bandel; St. Joseph’s Convent, Chandannagar; Amar Krishna Pathsala, Bhatpara; Gobardanga MNGS Balika Vidyalaya, Gobardanga; R.K.Mission Residential college [for physics students only]; Khantura High School, Gobardanga; Mousuni Cooperative High School, Mousuni island, Namkhana Block and at Shyamnagar Balika Vidyalaya, Shyamnagar.

At college level, for students of physics Honours, we have made a day long program with three presentations, each of duration 1 hour, before lunch : one on ‘Understanding superconductivity’, second on ‘Universe and its mysteries’ and the third on ‘Accelerators, tools for innovation and discovery’. Post lunch, there will be one presentation of duration 2 hour under the title ‘Our school days’ where we undertake ‘Hands on experiments to demonstrate some principles of  physics’.

We conduct science program for the students of school and colleges preferably with 100 students in a Hall. Date and timing are decided at the convenience of the students and the school authorities. Projector and microphone are needed.

The Society also provides scholarship to "Struggling Students" from remote villages who could not get scholarship from Government Schemes

Our Recent Activity : 100th program on Science was held on line, on 3rd October, 2020 for the Teachers. 10 Teachers participated.

Forthcoming Activity :

Program of 'student visit' for the students of Bankura was held on 9th of January, 2021. Altogether 34 students were visited in one day. 12 students were found to be worth monitoring.
