Reading The Bible In Chronological Order Of Events

A Biblical Bible Timeline Poster Offers A Graphical Mode To Aid And Help Teach Biblical Events And Realities

In our Sunday Bible class some years ago, a friend who had been a Christian and laboured in the Church for over 15 years, made this statement,"Yes, but Abraham had the Law and so he understood about......" (they weren't referring to the pre-mosaic law) I wonder just how many Christians would actually pick up the inaccuracy in this claim. Moses came about some 500 years after Abraham and so it is not possible. I have since made up a Biblical timeline banner and explained in a more graphic way the chronology of people and events.

Some time ago, I was teaching on the burial, resurrection, life and death of Jesus, and a retired pastor and strong preacher of the Gospel, who had been in the ministry for 40 years, marched up and reproved me vigorously over some fascinating points I made and he remarked 1Ti 1:4'Neither give heed to fables and endless genealogies, which minister questions, rather than godly edifying which is in faith: so do.' I quietly asked him if I had been preaching anything of a heretical nature at all, to which he said"No". I continued on to describe that in the case of that particular Scripture, it was not speaking to examining the Bible but to the false teaching and philosophy of the Gnostics, but he wouldn't have it. So, how can a 40 year preacher & worker in the Gospel, not understand and know about something that probably half the books of the New Testament refer to?

How can he study and teach the Bible fully without being familiar with something that was so influential in the New Testament church? And then how can the congregation hope to understand these things and be able to interpret their Bible well, if they are not informed?

Let's us as tutors and preachers stitch together the fragments of the Bible and God's plan into a complete picture that our people can draw on for the remainder of life, to help them to understand God, His Eternal Plan, the role of the Church and how to better interpret the Bible to order our lives by.

It is not hard to do, and it's not boring if we are prepared to put in a bit of study with prayer and fervor, and just possibly you can make use of a Bible Timeline too.
