A Bible Timeline Chart Offers A Graphical Way To Convey Bible Events And Realities

In our weekly Bible group years ago, one person who had been a Christian and been involved in the local Church for years, made this statement,"Yes, but Abraham had the Law and so he understood about......" (they were not referring to the pre-mosaic law) I wonder just how many Christians will actually notice the inaccuracy in this claim. Moses lived 500 years after Abraham and so it is not possible. I have since put together a Biblical chronology chart and explained more visually the time period of men and women and events.

Some years ago, I was speaking on the resurrection, burial, death and life of Jesus Christ, and a retired minister and strong preacher of Scripture, who had been a minister for 40 years, marched up and reproved me smartly over some interesting points I made and he referred to 1Ti 1:4'Neither give heed to fables and endless genealogies, which minister questions, rather than godly edifying which is in faith: so do.' I humbly asked him if I had been teaching anything of a heretical nature at all, to which he replied"No". I continued on to explain that in the case of that particular Scripture, it was not speaking to examining the Bible but to the false teachings and school of thought of Gnosticism, but he wouldn't have it. So, how can a 40 year minister & worker in the Gospel, not understand and know about a thing that probably 1/2 the books of the New Testament refer to?

How could he understand and preach the Bible clearly without being aware of a thing that was so influential in the New Testament church? And then how can the congregation hope to understand these things and be able to interpret their Bible effectively, if they're not told?

Let's us as tutors and preachers stitch together the aspects of the Bible and His plan into a complete picture that our people are able to draw on for the rest of life, to help them to understand God, His Eternal Plan, the function of the Church and ways to better interpret the Bible to order our lives by.

It is not difficult to do, and it's not boring if we are ready to put in a bit of effort prayer and fervor, and just possibly you can make use of a Bible Timeline also.
