For my second semester project, I worked with the entire classroom of students. This was a little overwhelming at first, much different from only having to assess a single student. However, once I was able to group my students into sub-categories and find strategies appropriate for those groups, the analysis went much better than I thought it could have. A process like this is very time consuming and made me realize that each and every year that I have a new group of students a thorough analysis is needed, especially for students who are new to the school and do not bring records (or for a student who came from a teacher who did not keep up with data collection.) Having both scenarios occur in my mentor teacher's classroom this year allowed me to experience the situation and to support my mentor teacher as she needed it.
