Encouraging Stellar Behavior
The behavior management plan that I wanted to use with my classroom was the money system. I have observed several different versions over the last few years that I have been in other classrooms. I felt that this model would work well with the class considering that the students would also be learning more about money in their math unit at the same time. I also liked this system because it holds the students more accountable for their actions and makes them more responsible for following through with directions. To introduce the new plan, I notified the students and the parents in advance with a letter stating the system that I planned on using. I also created a money value chart relevant to our classroom activities that was sent home and also posted on the board as a reminder. This way, there were no surprises and the students knew how they would earn (and lose) money. (A link for the chart is below.)
