Ahunavar
The prayer of Ahunavar (Choice of the Lord) teaches that the Lord and leader are to be chosen on account of their individual righteousness, through a Good Mind. This sets the basis for a spiritual and political democracy 4000 years ago.
"Both the lord and the leader are to be chosen
because of their righteousness.
These two appointments are made with good mind
so that acts of life are done for the Wise One,
and the dominion of God is well established,
in which the chosen person becomes the rehabilitator
of the rightful who are oppressed"
Song 1:3
GOD
Zoroaster's unique name for God - Ohr (Ahura) and Mazd (Mazda) has a special significance. 'Mazda' meaning Wisdom, or Wise, is a feminine noun but 'Ahura' , meaning "High Being", is masculine. God shares both feminine and masculine characteristics.
Often translated Lord Wise, the word Ahura from the root Ahu means life giving force and thus translated often to mean Lord, the word Mazda means super-intellect or supreme wisdom. Life-giving Being with Supreme Knowledge.
Zoroastrian Concepts of God here
Zoroaster
In whose birth and growth
The waters and plants flourished;
In whose birth and growth
The waters and the plants increased;
And in whose birth and growth
The entire progressive creation shouted with joy:
Hail to us, for the a "Thought-provoker" leader is born:
Zarathushtra Spitama!
Henceforth the Good Religion of worshipping the Wise One
Will spread all over the earth.
(Farvardin Yasht, stanzas 93-94)
Zoroaster or Zartosht is the shortened form of the name Zarathushtra. Zarathushtra belonged to the family of "Spitama"
(Spitama = very holy). Zarathushtra’s name could be interpreted as Zaratha = golden and Ushtra = Light, The Golden Light.
Zoroaster's birth is shrouded in mystery, Greek sources place him as far back as 6,000 to 7,000 B.C.,while modern
scholars place his birth between 1,500 to 1,800 B.C. Oral tradition among Parsis places him between 4,000 to 5,000 B.C.
Zoroaster received his Revelation over ten years, when the Revelation was complete, the Amesha Spentas showered special blessings and each one of them asked Zarathushtra to carry a special message.
Bahman urged that his followers should be kind to animals.
Ardibehest urged that fire should be revered.
Shehrevarand desired that metals should be used wisely.
Spendarmard desired that the earth should be revered.
Khordad wanted the waters to be revered.
Amardad wanted the plant kingdom to be cared for.
Saoshyant
Concerning the marvellousness of Soshyant as to splendour and glory of person, it says that 'when the coming of the last rotation of those rotations of the seasons of Aushedar-mah occurs, the man Soshyant is born whose food is spiritual and body sunny (that is, his body is as radiant as the sun);' also this, that 'he looks on all sides with six-eyed power (6-doisarih), and sees the remedy for persecution by the fiend.'
That will cleave unto the victorious Saoshyant and his helpers, when he shall restore the world, which will (thenceforth) never grow old and never die, never decaying and never rotting, ever living and ever increasing, and master of its wish, when the dead will rise, when life and immortality will come, and the world will be restored at its wish;
The renovation arises; and the triumph of the completion, which is through an ordinance by Soshyant, is through what occurs when through the ordinance there is thus a decree which sets aside all distress from the creatures, and gives the ordinance to the whole material existence, that which is living and also that which is dead.
Soshyant, -- the last bringer of religion for mankind from God and the embellisher of the world through religious deeds, -- he, who will make mankind walk in purity, -- is the chief and lord of the last men; he, in accordance with the will and desire of the Creator, will be the bringer of His religion at the time of the End, and will be the giver of perfect beauty to the work of rendering the world pure, free from harm and fit for paradise, -- which work was (first commenced) through Gayomard.
That maiden, who is Gobak-abu, walks up to the water; she that is the mother of that testifying Soshyant who is the guide to conveying away the opposition of the destroyer, and her former lineage is from Vohu-roko-i Frahanyan in the family of Isadvastar, the son of Zartosht that is brought forth by Arang. 16. 'That maiden whose title is All-overpowerer is thus all-overpowering, because through giving birth she brings forth him who overpowers all, both the affliction owing to demons, and also that owing to mankind.' 17. Then she sits in that water, when she is fifteen years old, and it introduces into the girl him 'whose name is the Triumphant Benefiter, and his title is the Body-maker; such a benefiter as benefits (savinedo) the whole embodied existence, and such a body-maker alike possessing body and possessing life, as petitions about the disturbance of the embodied existences and mankind.' 18. Not before that has she associated with men; nor yet afterwards, when she becomes pregnant, has she done so before the time when she gives birth. 19. When that man becomes thirty years old, the sun stands still in the zenith of the sky for the duration of thirty days and nights, and it arrives again at that place where it was appointed by allotment.
He that is united with (or is a companion of) the (good) religion, attains to such desires as will exist in the advantageous one, (i.e. Soshyant) the (future) revealer of the (good) religion unto the people of this world.
The renovation of the universe in the words of Ohrmazd to Zartosht, thus: 'I have produced the effecter of the renovation, the causer of righteousness, Soshyant, of whom mankind say that he does not come; and yet he will come, for the righteous, with that glory which becomes all-brilliance.'
Soshyant will obtain the ownership of both these khorehs (majesties) together, for the purpose of propagating the good religion, And he will perform all beneficial things relating to the matter. Again, the immense efforts which will be kept up by him will he (directed) to the work of giving prosperity to the generous, power to the wise and justice to the just.
Mazdayasna
Be it known that the words of the excellent wisdom of God were communicated to the good learned men of all countries before and after the preaching of the Mazdayasnian faith in this world. And these learned men of various continents were connected with the truth of this faith in this manner that they became acquainted with the precepts and writings of the good religion like the followers of the Mazdayasnian faith themselves.
Be it known that of the many evidences of the Mazdayasnian faith being the word of God these three are the chief: First that it contains perfect wisdom. Second, that it contains more of the truth than other faiths. Third, that to him who is anxious about religion it gives a complete knowledge about the existence of God.
Be it known that, Dadar Ohrmazd, from among the entire corporeal world, approved most, on account of his good qualities, Zartosht Spitaman of the venerable farohar, to be the prophet of the Mazdayasnian religion. Among many (qualities), he was possessed of consummate thought, of a perfect intellect, had the highest appreciation of the Mazdayasnian religion, (and) was superior to all in good thoughts, good words, and good deeds. And (he) was able to remove the miseries of the dumb, crippled, and necessitous good creation, and recommended (others) to do the same; and (he) possessed the power of keeping (men) aloof from sin, of securing the (good) will (of Ohrmazd), of adopting means to render constant help to pious (men), of destroying the Blemish-giver, and of (doing) every (other) thing.
Be it known that the spiritual Yazads were the first to reveal and expound God's faith to Gayomard in this created world. [1] Again this revelation and exposition were made a second time for Mashye and Mashyane. [2] And the message of this religious advice was sent to Siyamak the son of first Mashye and his descendants through Vohuman and Srosh. And for the edification of the nations of the earth this message of revelation was taken from Persia over the seas to other pious men in a regular sea-faring ship of the shape of a cow, called "Sarsvak-Gai." [3] It was also carried by land to various places, so that all mortal men inhabiting this entire earth may become perfectly acquainted with this religion.
Be it known that, whosoever is of the Mazdayasnian Faith, is by reason of his contemplation of the Mazdayasnian revelation, called a voluntary adherent of the Mazdayasnian religion. The simile is this, that as every organic being, by reason by of the blood of its species, is called after that species, so the upholder of the religion, by acting in consonance with the religious thought, is called a Mazdayasnian [lit. an adherent of the Mazdayasnian religion.
Be it known, that any thought originating in innate reason, that resembles the good religion like as a brother, -- such a thought ought to be believed in, accepted, and made current.
Be it known that the reason of man's accepting the Mazdayasnian faith is respect for divine wisdom. The excellence of divine wisdom is made known by the words of this faith. Likewise this Mazdayasnian faith is the strength of divine wisdom. And for this reason the words of the Mazdayasnian faith are the words of divine wisdom. The words of divine wisdom about those that now exist, those that have existed, and those that shall exist in the future, are all contained in this faith. Thus divine wisdom is the Mazdayasnian faith itself. And this faith itself is the divine wisdom about those that are, shall be and have been.
This is purity, O Zarathustra, the Mazda-yasnian law. He who keeps himself pure by good thoughts, words, and works. As to the right purity of one's own body, that is the purification of every one in this corporeal world for his own state, When he keeps himself pure by good thoughts, words, and works.
One says, "Zartosht asked of Ohrmazd, 'Whence shall they re-form the body which the wind has blown away, and the water has dragged down, and how shall resurrection occur?' 5. Ohrmazd replied, 'As I produced the terrestial sky without pillars, of spiritual standing, with the ends far apart, and shining, of the substance of shining steel, even as I produced the earth, which bears [all] material life, it has no material propping [-up]; as I made the sun, moon, and stars to revolve in the firmament with shining astral bodies; as I produced corn so that they may scatter it in the ground and it may return with increase, growing again; even as I produced colour of various kinds in plants; even as I produced fire without combustion in plants and other things; even as I produced and nourished the child in the womb of the mother and assigned severally [the hair,] skin, nails, blood, feet, eyes, ears, and other limbs; even as I gave feet to the water so that it may flow; [even as I] produced [the spiritual] cloud which bears the material water and rains wherever it chooses; and even as I produced the air which blows at will, below and above, with the strength of the wind, as is visible to the eye; -- one cannot seize it with the hands; -- I produced each one of these when their production was more difficult for me to achieve than raising the dead. For in the raising of the dead I have the help of such as these which I had notwhen [I] made them. What has been can be again. Behold, if I made that which was not, how can I not re-form that which was? For at that time I will demand the bony frame from the spirit of the earth, the blood from the water, the hair from the plants, and the life from the wind, as they had received at the beginning of creation.'
Astrology
The following is a list of the major astrological "aspects" and the meaning assigned to each - the "aspects" are determined by the geometry of a circle and they are displayed within the astrological star/planet map according to an earth or geo-time such as events on earth like births thus called natal or "birth chart.
CONJUNCTION - planets (including the Sun and Moon) in close proximity to each other. A conjunction indicates strength, talents and abilities.
OPPOSITION - planets 180 degrees "opposite" each other. An opposition is an indication of energies which must be brought into balance, or a tension which can produce varying effects.
TRINE - planets approximately 120 degrees apart. A trine indicates a "great blessing" or an extraordinary gift, and reveals components of our self which co-operate with one another producing extraordinary results.
GRAND TRINE - three or more planets which form a triangle in which the planets are approximately 120 degrees apart. A Grand Trine indicates a supreme blessing.
SEXTILE - planets 60 degrees apart. A sextile is an indication of opportunity.
GRAND SEXTILE - A complete circle of divine protection and transcendent opportunity.
SQUARE - planets 90 degrees apart. A square indicates an obstacle which must be overcome. Squares indicate deeply rooted psychological complexes, repressions and denials all of which operate invisibly (unlike oppositions which represent visible conflicts) and which must be overcome.
GRAND CROSS - 4 planets each being approximately 90 degrees away from each other with two pairs each forming "oppositions". This configuration looks like an actual square composed of four outside lines with two diagonal intersecting lines (oppositions) in the center . A Grand Cross indicates extraordinary obstacles which must be overcome.
QUINTILE - planets 72 degrees apart. A quintile indicates a special talent.
