Hope Valley Wine Circle was formed in 1973 by a group of enthusiastic, wine makers. The purpose was to foster good fellowship amongst wine makers and to keep alive the traditions of wine making and brewing. However, over the years, we have found that fewer and fewer people make wine and beer and so the ethos of the wine circle has changed - our focus now is on commercial wines and beverages.
A typical meeting starts with a guest speaker, a presentation by a member, or a commercial tasting. This is followed by a two-course supper provided by the members. We occasionally organise visits to local breweries or vineyards.
Currently membership is around 15. New members are always welcome. The annual subscription is £20 and members pay £5 for supper.
Meetings are usually held on the third Monday of the month at the Moore Memorial Hall in Bamford and start at 7:00 pm. Please contact the secretary - carol_cotton@btinternet.com - for further details.
