Bamford Old Folks Fund, as it was originally called, was started on the 28th December 1945. The founder members were Rosie Edmond, Jessie Hickinson, Mr & Mrs Charlie King and Frank Poynton and with help from May Edwards, they organised events for the older folk in the village.
The Fund changed its name to Bamford Senior Citizens in April 2002, but we are still trying to do the same activities. We still have an annual outing and Christmas Dinner each year. We also arrange the annual 'Carols on the Green' where we supply mince pies and warm punch. Fund raising is ongoing. Our biggest fundraiser is the '100 Club', but we also raise money through various events during the year. We always appreciate donations from individuals and organisations and these are always put to good use. 2012 saw us revert to our original name Bamford Old Folks Fund due to popular demand.
The 100 Club: Anyone over 18 years can join and it only costs £25 for the year. There are three draws per month from March to December with extra draws at Christmas. Prizes are £20, £15 and £10. Please help keep the Old Folks Club running - you can join at any time.
