Waste water treatment for domestic and commercial installation connected or not connected to sewage lines are well know, documented in literature and standardized according international norms:
EPA , ASTM, IAPMO for America ( including single state regolutation), some of the European national standards organizations have issued norms for wastewater treatment for less than 50 pe. but these are superseded by the new norms elaborated by the European Standard Organization (CEN).
Also international association as WHO (World Health Organization) and UNEP (United Nation Environment program) has emitted document and recommendations.
So, with a little effort a professional or a curious owner can document him and control the design of the plant according the international norms.
A wrong sized waste water treatment or a bad installation can persecute the house inhabitants with bad odors, plugging until a severe health problems.
This without consider the environmental issues.
The savings in waste water treatment plant in your project are contributing to:
Infant mortality in the low-income areas of Indonesia reached 66 per 1000 in 2005.
A large number of these deaths are associated with water and fecal borne disease closely linked to inadequate water, sanitation and drainage services. The rate of typhoid fever in poor areas is amongst the highest in Asia, which on the long run can only be controlled by improvements of sanitation and water systems (2). Also, economic losses attributed to insufficient sanitation services have been estimated to be about 2.3 % of Indonesia’s GDP (1) or US$ 6.3 billion annually (3).

Another consideration is that also in Indonesia there are laws regarding waste water, no one is making controls but design a property that cannot respect the law decries the value and left the owner in an unpleasant situation.

Septic tank problems
Bad odor, toilet low to clear, or keep backing up. Please have a look around your home!
Poorly functioning septic systems can cause household drains to back up and overflow. They can also contaminate backyards where children play. Children often play in storm water drains, which are a frequent target of septic leakage. Smelly septics are also a nuisance to neighbors.
CHECKLIST: IS YOUR SEPTIC HEALTHY?
Your septic may need attention if any of these conditions occur
• The air around it smells – usually like rotten egg gas.
• The ground is damp or soggy, or pools form downhill.
• There's lots of dark green grass growing on or around the absorption area.
• The toilet or drains are slow to clear, or keep backing up.
• There are lots of weeds growing downhill from the absorption area, in nearby drainage channels or on the banks of a nearby waterway.
• The septic tank has not been checked for over 12 months.
• The septic tank has not been pumped out (de-sludged) in the past 3-5 years
If any of these factors apply, you should act quickly so that the damage, and the cost of repair, does not get any worse.
