College Applications

Completing Your College Applications

Are you planning to enroll in higher education after this school year? Have you submitted your applications yet? Check out these resources that may help!

  • Be sure to check with the colleges or universities that you are applying to for their application deadlines. Some may have passed, but in most cases you can still submit an application even after the deadline.

  • Complete all application requirements. This will probably include a paper or online application in addition to having your SAT or ACT test scores reported and submitting your official transcript. Applications may also require letters of recommendation or personal statements.

  • When you register for the SAT or ACT you can select which universities you would like your scores reported to. It is best to do this during registration so your scores will automatically reported for free! If you do not specify schools during registration you can request your scores to be sent after testing however, there is typically a charge. Be sure to also use AZVA’s school code when registering: 030607

  • To request your Official Transcript from AZVA please visit our "Need to Request Your Transcript" page. This online form must be completed by the legal guardian, or by the student if 18 years of age or older.

  • When requesting a letter of recommendation from a teacher or counselor be sure to ask them at least 4 weeks before the letter/application is due. It is best to always send a written request (like email) and then follow up with a thank you. Be sure you ask an adult (teacher, counselor, coach, youth leader) who knows you well and can speak to your strengths (both academic as well as personally to your character, community activities, etc.). It is not appropriate to have a family member write a letter of recommendation.

  • If your application requires a personal statement or essay then start early! Use resources (like the BigFuture website below) and be sure to have an adult proof-read your final draft before submitting.
