Shastri Indo-Canadian Institute announces a call for Applications for Shastri Research Student Fellowship (SRSF) for Bachelor, Masters, M. Phil, doctoral students and post-doctoral scholars enrolled in degree programmes in recognised Indian & Canadian universities or institutions to undertake research in areas/ fields in which scholars may desire/require research experience in Canada/India.

This Programme will provide an opportunity for a transformative cultural and educational experience. Scholars will get exposure in an international setting which will bring lifelong benefits to the individual trainees as well as to the institutions in which they would be affiliated.

In general applications from all domains of studies like Social Sciences and Humanities, Arts, Commerce & Management and STEM subjects are accepted. However, applications are encouraged in the focus areas of SICI and priority areas of MHRD, Govt. of India i.e. Food Security and Sustainable Development, Water Resource Management, Gender, Bi-lateral Trade and Investment, Energy and Environmental Sciences, Securing Future of Children and Youth, Higher Education, Agricultural Science & Technology, Teacher Education and Training, Health Sciences, Nursing, Marine Sciences and Ocean Studies is invited under this programme.

Applicant must be from member institutions of Shastri Indo-Canadian Institute from India or Canada and the affiliate or host institution must be from member institution of SICI in India or Canada. There are three categories of this fellowship.

Please note that the SRSF award is mobility based and application can be submitted by those who are registered for a full time programme in a member institution of SICI in Canada or India and their research requires them to be in the other country.

1. Shastri Research Student Fellowship for Doctoral Students

Doctoral fellowship will be awarded to the students enrolled in Doctoral programmes in India or Canada with a significant focus on India/Canada, to enable them to access relevant research material as well as conduct research in India/Canada which will subsequently help them to get their degree. For the duration of the Fellowship, the Students must be affiliated to a Canadian/Indian institution.

Eligibility

Doctoral students must be registered/admitted for full-time PhD in an Indian/Canadian university

Applicant’s synopsis should have been approved by competent authority before the last date of submission of application with SICI.

The applicant’s university/institution must be from member institutions of SICI. A list of SICI member institutions is available at the link provided here.

Should preferably be in the age group of 21-35 years.

Value of Award: 560 CAD per week

Duration: Upto 6 months

2. Shastri Research Student Fellowship for Post-Doctoral Student

Post doctoral fellowship will be awarded to scholars from India and Canada who have been awarded a Ph.D. degree and wish to pursue further research in India/Canada. Applicants need not have an academic position. Applicants who are working as post doctoral fellow in member institution of Shastri Indo-Canadian Institute are eligible to apply for the postdoctoral fellowship. The applicants are required to apply for this fellowship within five years of being awarded the PhD degree.

Eligibility

Doctoral students must be registered/admitted for full-time PhD in an Indian/Canadian university

Should preferably be in the age group of 30-45 years;

Value of Award: 590 CAD per week

Duration: Upto 4 months
