Visual Communication is key to fully appealing to an audience and has The ability to reach an audience in a way that words alone cannot. The audience for this video was very broad, for people both young and old. This is because the product I chose, being a record player, is traditionally known to be used by an older generation but in today’s age they’re coming back into fashion, and younger generations find them appealing as well. In order to appeal to such a broad audience, I integrated many aspects which would target everyone. I created my instructions through both visual text and audio explanations, so whoever was using my video could learn through whichever mode was easiest and most convenient for them, and each mode enhanced the other. I also included background music which was from the 60s to reach my older audience but also added a nice aesthetic which would be appealing to the younger generation interested in this product for it’s classic quality. One challenge and making this multimodal was correlating the visual aspects with the text on the screen that went along with it, as well as the audio description going on as well, all at once. My first impression of the software I chose was complexity and that contributed to another challenge of simply understanding how to function the software and make the proper edits that I needed to make to my video. All of this created a product that effectively utilized visuality for instruction.
