The genre of a piece of writing dictates many of the decisions necessary to be made when designing it, and is also significant to the goal you are trying to accomplish. In the context of this assignment, being addressing a certain level of dissatisfaction with a service, would be executed most efficiently through letters of various styles depending on the specific goal of the writer. One of the most challenging aspects of developing content through this sort of genre was maintaining a tone and style which was appropriate for each individual letter. An email or other form of writing would carry a more casual and conversational tone I am more used to using in daily life. This type of level required a type of seriousness and professionalism I was not as accustomed to using. In order to overcome this challenge I made sure to focus on my audience and their position of authority, and make sure my style and tone got my point across while still maintaining respect and professionalism. The main way I incorporated multimodality to develop my content based on the context was designing my personal letter to reflect that of a professional business person that incorporated my own individuality to make it more personal. This manifested in style, which used calm color tones and simplistic structure to balance professional and personal so the audience would value what I was saying while also connecting with me. This enhanced my writing skills by opening my perspective to consider not only what I am writing to someone, but also the way in which I present my writing given the context and circumstance.
