The following project was composed of an instructional youtube video on how to function a Crosley record player. With the video there were a few major components including a list of parts, a sequential list of instructions, as well as hazards and troubleshooting information. One of the main goals of this project was to provide instruction that is fully cohesive and easy for anyone to follow. In addition, this information should be on a platform which allows it to be widely available to a broad audience who is in need of that specific information. The key modes incorporated in this project were video and audio plus text. The video portion allowed the viewer to see the product from many different angles and distances so they have a full understanding of what part they need to look at or what they need to do with it. The text portion provided captions which clearly indicated what was going on within the visual video making it convenient to follow along, while also helping the audience understand what the audio was saying. Furthermore the audio described what was going on in the video and what the text was saying to add another layer of instruction and clarity for the audience members. This project reflects many professional skills, the first being able to adapt and use many programs and platforms to create a multimodal project. In addition, it required a full understanding of all the components of the product being described which required research, observation, and experimentation. Finally this project emphasized the professional skill of understanding and appealing to a broad audience when creating the content as well as promoting it.
