• We have an open position for a (BK21 or Ajou-ribs) postdoc who are expected to study heterogeneous catalysis(photocatalysis) in hydrogen production/methane conversion (as of Sep. 11, 2026).  Those interested in joining our group are encouraged to contact Prof. Yu Kwon Kim by email (yukwonkim@ajou.ac.kr).

We are the research group in the department of Chemistry and the department of Energy Systems Research at Ajou University. We aim to study chemistry in catalytic processes taking place at solid surfaces of single crystals, nanomaterials of various compositions and shapes, and composite systems developed for applications in environmental remediation and energy harvesting and conversion devices.  We are also interested in chemistry involved in the fabrication of  size- and shape-selective nanomaterials and try to understand the underlying driving forces in terms of chemical principles such as bonding interactions, charge states and dipoles, surface energy and surface tension, and so on.

We have graduate programs for master and Ph. D. degrees in (applied) chemistry and accept international students from all over the world.  To apply, please contact prof.
