Asset and Facility Management (AFM) is one of the philosophy that govern our built enviornment. In discussing this agenda, its good if we can bring it to our local context, by referring to Rancangan Fizikal Negara. Continuous discussion about FM in Malaysia can be find in the scholarly work below.

2010: Development of facilities management in Malaysia
The performance of assets management is continuously being measured. Al Marzooqi et al (2018) measured the performance of physical asset management using AHP. In response to current pandemic of Covid-19, Osunsanmi et al (2020) studied about maintenance management challenges in preventing corona-virus.

Facility Condition Index (FCI)
FCI is a tool to measure the current economic value of the asset. It can conclude the building condition survey work that have been done, via converting all building defects or deferred maintenance deficiencies to a monetary value. If an organization is in the position of whether to perform routine maintenance or its a time for major refurbishment/renovation; then FCI can help in determining the direction. FCI is used by NASA.
