Islam and Science

Islam encourages the study of the relationship between the teaching of science and religion in all aspects of nature. The true aspect of religion and science is to serve mankind. However, religion is concerned with the nature of life from a spiritual viewpoint whereas science enhances and enriches the physical aspect of life. ... . It is noteworthy to mention that before Islam, historians report that scientists studied subjects such as mathematics, astronomy, physics, chemistry, philosophy, medicine and so on. Islam encourages learning of all kinds. ... . Muslim scientists advanced the frontiers of science in all these fields, and science reached the Golden Age in Iraq and Spain. Since Islam does not discriminate on the basis of nationality, race, or creed, scholars were invited from all over the world and schools, libraries, and hospitals were built. ... . Mankind has a limited knowledge, but Islam encourages people to seek wisdom and knowledge toward understanding Allah (Subhanahu Wa Ta’Ala). ... . Scientific research must focus on sustaining applications that benefit mankind as a whole, and advance the general good. The worst state of the human race is one without basic fundamental rights and equality. As a result of hate, racism, sects, and discrimination, Muslims were prevented from continuing their learning, and many scholars were put to death. ... . Scientists bear the responsibility for their articles and they will be questioned in the Hereafter. A scientist must strive to advance the frontiers of knowledge, and to educate the next generation of the youth in their footsteps, all for the sake Allah (Subhanahu Wa Ta’Ala) and for the service of mankind throughout the world. ... .
