We can set the air conditioners to use less energy, which lowers our operating costs and helps protect the environment. Only run your A/C when you are home. An air conditioner is more efficient running non-stop for a short time, than on and off briefly over a longer period.
If residents switch off their A/C and close their curtains/blinds when they go out, the apartment should remain reasonably cool throughout the day.
Most of our rooftop compressors serve wall units in 2 different apartments (usually one is above the other is below). For example, one rooftop compressor serves the bedrooms in Unit #6 and Unit #2. When one apartment is calling for cooling, cooling is what the rooftop compressor will do and the other apartment cannot call for “heat” at the same time - and vice/versa.
Some owners try the "Dehumidification Mode" setting (see page 14 of the Manual). This mode maintains the optimal level of humidity.
If the display on the remote control for your air conditioner is faint, check for dead batteries. After replacing a dead battery, remote units sometimes reset to 18 degrees. NEVER SET THE TEMPERATURE BELOW 21 degrees.
Other frequently asked questions are on page 31 of the Manual. After reviewing the FAQs, if you still can’t get your air conditioner to work, call our Property Manager.
See also page 29 of the Manual. The Indoor Unit has an air filter that YOU NEED TO CLEAN EVERY TWO WEEKS during operation. Failure to clean will damage your unit.
Never turn on an air conditioner during winter. All compressors are on the roof and running a frozen compressor will likely destroy it. As a precaution, the Corporation turns off the electricity to the roof compressors throughout the winter months.
