Short Description:
As Internet traffic is hard to model analytically, data traces are often a method of last resort or just an elegant way to investigate a system by simulation, using undisputably realistic traffic models. However, some simulated system include a rate adaptation function such as TCP on the transport layer or a human user of data waiting for the completion of one transfer before starting the next. In these cases, the data trace is not applicable anymore if the system performance changes.
