Short Description:
In an attempt to make effects or differences between different investigated systems clearly visibles, some authors get carried away and forget to check if the results of their investigations are still relevant to the problem they studied. Examples like publications that compare the performance of bandwidth assignment schemes at blocking probabilities of more than 0.5 or studies of wireless media access schemes at queueing delays of 10 seconds have been observed. A related problem is using approximations outside of their range of applicability.
