Title : Avoid the Normal (Gaussian) Distribution

Author: J. Charzinski

Short Description:

The Normal (Gaussian) distribution is popular in mathematics, e.g. for its role in the central limit theorem. Therefore, some researchers like to use this distribution as kind of a "general" random distribution also to parameterize simulation models. However, the Gaussian distribution always yields a finite probability for negative samples, which often causes stability problems with simulation software, not to speak of the questionable validity of the results obtained that way.
