Anita Bobo Morris is not your typical artist. She doesn’t paint, sculpt, sew, photograph, or woodwork; yet, she, along with her husband, Ron Morris-a skilled potter-is a vital part of the Sipsey Arts Alliance. She showcases her creativity in the areas of writing, cooking, music, and serving.
Anita’s first challenge in culinary art was to make a cake at age six. Her parents were both ill with influenza, and her mother had volunteered to provide a cake for the fall cakewalk at the local elementary school; so, from her sickbed, her mother called out the ingredients and directions to her daughter. The pound cake was a success, and Anita’s interest in cooking was piqued! She says that her kitchen is similar to a chemistry lab-experimenting, making notes, and striving for better results.
Anita, equipped with a BA and an MA, taught English/Language Arts for thirty years and then retired to work again. She and her husband own a pottery/baking shop located in historic downtown Fayette. They have seven children and a gaggle of perfect grandchildren.
