This course is for advocacy practitioners, decision-makers and anyone who wants to know more about advocacy in SIL’s context.
By the end of this course, we hope that you will:
Understand the principles of advocacy
Have reviewed key issues around which SIL’s advocacy commonly takes place
Understand the importance of developing alliances and collaborative advocacy, and how to do it
Be able to participate in professional conferences and effectively network
Be able to plan and execute advocacy activities on selected issues within your context
In this course, you will be introduced to information about advocacy through a series of online modules. Each module contains assignments for you to complete. You will need to identify a mentor to help you work through the material. This mentor does not need to be an advocacy expert (though it would help if they understood basic advocacy concepts). Rather, your mentor should be someone trustworthy that you feel comfortable talking to about what you’re learning. Your mentor will review your written assignments and give you feedback. For most of the written assignments, you can input your answers directly into the module, and then share those answers with your mentor by printing out the summary pages at the end of each module.
Your registration fee will give you access to the course material for a year.
