Progress 5

Less fugly gas tank modification - tid welding in progress. Lots of tacks. But I had to re-weld bottom welds to seal some tiny pinholes.
I used lots of clamps to try to avoid warping the gas tank from welding. I still got alot of warping whenI got impatient and just welded a bunch too much at one time. But, does not leak
I fabricated a radiator overflow tank. You can just buy these off the shelf, but a) it would not fit perfectly in the spot I wanted it to go in, and b) why buy it when you can spend an entire weekend building it ? (a whole weekend because you had to do it three times to get it right)
This is the heater / defroster system - required to get the car registered. The heater is from Summit racing, I fabricated the aluminum plenum.
These are the defroster ducts, I also added two vents for the footwells. Might help a tiny bit on cold days. These are fed from the plenum, picture on left.
Windshield defroster vents. Summit Racing! These will be perfect.
That's me sandblasting the frame, to get rid of oil, rust and crap. After this I will a) finish up welds that were just tacked, b) re-do fugly mig welds with TIG welds (where I can get a proper position to tig) and add a few missing brackes (such as the transmission support)
Frame back from sandblasting. Started on finishing the welds.
Lots of welds to finish / fix
Fitting the engine (yet again) to finalize the engine and transmission mounts. Bit of a tight fit, even for the tiny Toyota 4AGE engine
Throttle linkage. Bicycle brake cable inside fancy Lockar throttle cable housing.
The other end of the throttle cable - custom brackets and return spring assembly ( because this is a FWD intake manifold on a RWD engine, and throttle body is upside down).
New tires on '95 Saab Ronal Minilite style wheels. One wheel was bent, got it repaired for $140.
bought a shop crane from Princess Auto, $279. Very useful.
Bumper mounts. I have to fit bumpers to get the car registered. Frame is upside down here. Don't look too closely at my tig welds. But better than some of my other welds!
