We all know the Brewers would not be where they are today if not for Lorenzo Cain, Christian Yelich, Jhoulys Chacin, and Erik Kratz. Although most fans know the stars on the field, some don’t know the unsung hero of the team’s playoff push - General Manager David Stearns.
David Sterns took advantage of Derek Jeter’s “rebuilding” and traded for Yelich who is now in the midst of an MVP sea- son in Milwaukee.
Lorenzo Cain was originally drafted by the Brewers, but we lost him in a deal for Zack Grienke. Seven years later, David Stearns traded for Cain again and he was an all-star this year.
Jhoulys Chacin was never a quality starter - playing for six teams before coming to Milwaukee. David Stearns saw him and traded for him though, and he has turned into the ace pitcher for the Brew- ers.
Erik Kratz was a nobody in New York, in and out of AAA. Stearns traded for him and he is now the starting catcher in Milwaukee.
It has been a fantastic year for David Stearns and he should be a definite contender for General Manager of the year.
