Do you think your backpack is heavy? Too heavy? So do I! As you get older, you get more homework, which means you carry more weight. That means heavier backpacks.
However, there is a way to stop this madness. Roller backpacks! They’re kind of like suitcases, but smaller, and with straps in case you want to wear them. That way, you can roll them behind you, and let them carry your homework, instead of your poor shoulders.
You can also get a backpack with a waist strap, which distributes weight to your waist as well, and not just your shoulders.
If you don’t want to get either of those, you can try and find a few designated areas to stop on your way home. If your walk back home is through the more “commercial” part of Shorewood (like Oakland or Capital), you can pop in a little store or cafe and sit down for a bit. That way, your shoulders can take a little break before carrying your homework again.
Doctors say that carrying more than 15% of your body weight is bad for your back, and can make your spine compress unnaturally. (In other words: not good!)
