It’s that time of year again, THANKSGIVING! A time when you give thanks for what you have….like three days off of school ! (Woo-Hoo!) But seriously, Thanksgiving is a time where you visit and spend time with family and friends over a huge feast. Many families travel long distances to see family and share this special day. Families cheer together and watch a few football games (Go Pack!).
I watch the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade on TV with my mom in the morning. My dad is a great cook and makes the Thanksgiving dinner. I hope he makes my favorite again this year – homemade pumpkin pie!
After a big delicious meal, lots of families like mine go to the movies. There are usually a lot of new movies that come out Thanksgiving weekend. Other families like to go to the stores and start holiday shopping.
But Thanksgiving means much more than that. It’s a time to give THANKS and it’s a time for GIVING.
We give thanks for what we have no matter how big or how small. We give our time, our money, our food to help those who don’t have as much. We hope that by giving, we make our community a better place. I am thankful for my family, my friends, my great teachers and our awesome Lake Bluff School.
Don’t let the rush to the holidays make you miss out on this special day. Celebrate this time with those you love and remember….give thanks!
HAPPY THANKSGIVING!
