Which New York State Assessments will my child have to take and when are they scheduled during the school year?
All middle school students are required to take New York State Assessments in English Language Arts, Mathematics, and Science. Exams in English Language Arts and Math are administered in Grades 6-8. The exam in Science is administered to students during the eighth grade year. (See chart below.)

Course-based common assessments in CORE subjects and the STAR Universal Screener. School level final exams may be administered in class for sixth through eighth grade students during the month of June in certain courses.
