School counselors communicate with students, teachers, and parents to support students’ personal, social, emotional, and academic growth. They encourage students to reach their goals and assist with key transitions from elementary to middle school and from middle to high school.
Counselors begin working with students in 6th grade and remain with the same class through 8th grade. As members of the grade-level academic teams, they meet regularly with teachers and participate in team parent conferences, as well as individual meetings with families. Counselors are student advocates, and parents are encouraged to contact their child’s counselor with any questions or concerns.
Students are encouraged to meet with their counselor during lunch, flex, or study halls. Students can set up appointments by email or stopping in to the counseling office
Parents and students should get to know their school counselor. Your counselor wants you to have a successful three years in middle school and is ready to work with you to achieve your goals.
