Pep Band
The SHS Pep Band is a co-curricular ensemble that performs for SHS home varsity boys and girls basketball games. The pep band rehearses before school from 7:45 to 8:25 AM. Membership in pep band is open to any student enrolled in Wind Band or Concert Band. The SHS Pep Band provides another co-curricular opportunity for students to support the school through music. All instrumentalists are strongly encouraged to join the SHS Basketball Pep Band.
This co-curricular organization will assist all students in developing sight- reading skills, team building skills, and leadership skills, through active participation in the ensemble. Students who participate in the pep band usually develop into the most respected musicians and leaders in the band department. Students who join pep band their freshman year tend to remain in the pep band throughout their high school tenure.
The SHS Pep Band rehearses and performs over 75 different tunes per year. This music ranges from classic rock and roll, to jazz, to Broadway tunes, to music currently popular.
