Mrs. Allison Anderson, Director of Bands
The 2024-2025 school year marks Mrs. Anderson's fourth year as the Director of Bands at SHS. Prior to this, Mrs. Anderson served as the Assistant Director of Bands at Shelbyville High School and Middle School for 4 years, Band and Choir Director at Hauser Jr. Sr. High School in Hope, IN for 2 years, and the Band, Choir, and Orchestra Director at Harshman Magnet Middle School in Indianapolis for 4 years.
Mrs. Anderson earned her BME with an emphasis in oboe from the Indiana University Jacobs School of Music in Bloomington, Indiana. She has worked with many band departments across the state as a mentor. Some of these ensembles include high school marching bands, jazz bands, beginning bands, and soloists and small ensembles. Mrs. Anderson has started countless beginning oboists, many who have been accepted and study at surrounding colleges and conservatories. Mrs. Anderson has been selected as a Sunshine Society Ideal Woman and has mentored many young women around Central Indiana.
When not at school, Mrs. Anderson enjoys being outside, spending time with her husband and son, and traveling. Mrs. Anderson also enjoys spending time with her nine year old Basset Hound named Clementine and cats -- Nellie and Fred.
Mrs. Anderson has traveled to China three times, and Italy once, performing with a professional touring concert band and as a music education clinician.
Mr. Graham Montgomery, Assistant Director of Bands
The 2024-2025 school year marks Mr. Montgomery’s fourth year as the Assistant Director of Bands at Shelbyville High School. In the spring of 2021, Mr. Montgomery completed his student teaching at Shelbyville High School and is very excited to continue working in the community. Mr. Montgomery earned his Bachelors of Music Education with a focus in trumpet from the Indiana University Jacobs School of Music in the spring of 2021.
Mr. Montgomery, when not at school, enjoys spending time disc golfing and exploring the outdoors. He is also a fan of sports, including baseball, basketball, and soccer. When he gets the chance he enjoys spending time with his two cats Lulu and Zoey while visiting his family in the Cincinnati area.
