Booking equipment

How to book online

Collect and checking everything is there

In order to borrow equipment, you must first complete all parts of the Health & safety training. Once completed and your account has been activated, you will be able to book equipment from the equipment booking site.  You will not be allowed to take any equipment until you have completed the training and have an active account on the equipment booking site. You will also need to present your UCard before any equipment is loaned to you.

Make sure that you've read and are familiar with the Media Store Terms and Conditions.

Once permissions are granted you can book equipment online before arriving at the Media Store. We highly recommend booking in advance to ensure that the equipment you would like to borrow is available and reserved for your use. You can alternatively turn up at the Media Store hatch and see if equipment is available for use. All bookings are for 24 hours (unless we have received approved permission from a tutor for it to be longer). Bookings will be automatically cancelled if not collected after 15 minutes.

All bookings online are made through Connect2. Follow this link to see instructions on how to book equipment through Connect2.

All equipment must be collected in person with your UCard. When you take equipment out of the Media Store you will see a plastic card on most of the equipment. Please do not remove this as this is what is used to scan items in and out of the store. You will also see that it has a contents of the equipment that should be in the kits, if you notice something missing it is your responsibility to check it and report it before you start using it.

Returning Equipment

Equipment must be returned on time and in the condition it was given to you.

If equipment is returned with items missing or damaged you will be responsible for the cost of replacement, as agreed in the Terms & Conditions you signed. To report anything please notify the Media Store staff or email jnltechstore@sheffield.ac.uk

If you are late returning equipment it can affect others who also need to use it for their work. This will also mean you will receive an account ban and be unable to borrow equipment for the duration of your ban. Information about the length of bans can be found in the Media Store Terms and Conditions.

Using Equipment

If you're not sure how to use the equipment or have something specifically in mind that you'd like to achieve with it then please speak to Nafiseh or Muhebur in the Media Store. You can also look on 'JNL Media & Tech Support Organisation' on Blackboard or use the QR code found on the equipment tag to direct you to some useful information about using the equipment.

Questions?

If you have any questions about borrowing equipment or would like advice on how to use it, just ask at the media store during opening times or email jnltechstore@sheffield.ac.uk
