Have you joined USP after working in a different sector? Are you unsure if what you're doing is right for you? Do you want to explore what other career options might be out there? Help is below.
Continue with your course
If you are over half way through your degree it may be better to complete it, even if it doesn’t fit perfectly with your needs. Depending how far you have reached on your course, perhaps you can drop modules you aren’t enjoying and concentrate on those you do. Most courses give you greater choice as they progress.
A large proportion of graduate jobs are open to graduates of any subject, so you may not need to change course to get into a career that interests you. Employers are looking for the generic skills that you will have gained during your degree and from your other activities. Perhaps you can choose a dissertation, project or modules that you will enjoy and relate to your chosen career.
Adapt your course
If you are taking joint honours perhaps you can switch to single honours or vice versa. However, you will significantly increase your chances of getting permission to do this if you decide sooner rather than later.
Focus on other things
Perhaps the problem isn’t the course itself; maybe other factors are making you unhappy. Can you take action regarding these?
Student clubs and societies may enable you to make new friends and expand your interests.
Voluntary work can also provide variety to your life.
Perhaps changing your accommodation could help.
If you would benefit from more income, you could get a part-time term-time job or work in your vacations. This will develop your skills and look good on your CV.
