Your 'digital footprint' includes the content you share on social media, which can often be publicly visible and linked back to you. Many employers now assess social media during recruitment, either promoting opportunities or screening candidates.
Inappropriate posts (like party photos, bad language, or complaints) can hurt your application, while positive content (such as work examples, achievements, or volunteering) can boost your chances.
Search for yourself online and evaluate the appropriateness of what appears. If it's unsuitable, consider adjusting your privacy settings or deleting unwanted content on platforms like Facebook and Twitter. If you're lacking engaging posts, start sharing to enhance your applications.
